"As America moves for a showdown with the Axis on far-flung battlefronts, the casualty list will inexorably grow. The price of victory is high, but never as high as defeat. Young Americans know that and are valiantly calling Hitler's trumps even though it means death. As the tide moves on, Cadillac sons move with it. The most recent addition to the Gold Star list at Cadillac is Lewis J. Weisenberger, TA-18, who was killed during a regular training flight, September 23rd at Camden, South Carolina. Weisenberger worked at Cadillac for a year and a half before entering the Army Air Force in January of this year. He was a tank driver in TA-18. At Wofford College, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Cadet Weisenberger completed the five months' course in two months and was sent to Maxwell Field Alabama. From Maxwell he went to Camden, South Carolina, where his plane crashed on routine flight. Cadet Weisenberger was home on leave for five days during August. While in Detroit, he married his childhood sweetheart, Miss Winifred Graham. Cadet Weisenberger's wife was living in Camden at the time of his death."

Daubenspeck and Ashcah Esther Farley, on Tuesday, November 14, 1871 at Hamilton, Indiana, .² Phoebe Ellen West died on September 9, 1933 at Carmel, Hamilton County, Indiana, at age 80.³

     Manford J. Wetzel was born on July 27, 1915 at Billings, Yellowstone County, Montana.^1,2 He began military service on June 11, 1940.² He married, at age 26, Gertrude Grant, age 26, daughter of Charles S. Grant, on Saturday, April 25, 1942 at Las Vegas, Nevada, .³ Manford J. Wetzel ended military service on July 10, 1967; as a colonel, USAF.² He died on October 29, 1980 at San Diego, California, at age 65.^2,4

     Jabez Wheeler was born in 1811.¹ He married Mary Ann Lewey, daughter of John Lewey and Philipena Clapp, on Monday, April 10, 1837 at Guilford County, North Carolina, .² Jabez Wheeler died in 1865 at Illinois.¹ He was buried after 1865 at Waveland Cemetery, Hillsboro, Montgomery County, Illinois.¹

     Mary E. Whiteside was born in April, 1848 at Indiana.^2,3 She married, at age 27, Dr. John Samuel Bell, age 36 on Wednesday, March 22, 1876 at Hancock County, Indiana, .¹ Mary E. Whiteside died on September 9, 1931 at Greenfield, Hancock County, Indiana, at age 83.⁴

     Martin Wildman was born in 1652 at Tatham, Lancashire, England.¹ He was a Quaker. He married Sarah Burgess, age 47, daughter of Richard Burgess and Katherine, on Tuesday, September 2, 1698 at Falls River Monthly Meeting, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, .^1,2,3 Martin Wildman died on September 26, 1699 at Bucks County, Pennsylvania.¹ He was buried after September 26, 1699 at Middletown Friends Cemetery, Langhorne, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.¹
