     Joseph Oliver Cochran was born on November 26, 1882 at Texas.^1,2 He was the son of Joseph Thomas Cochran and Eliza Jane Wilson. Joseph Oliver Cochran married, at age 31, Martha Alma Latham, age 22 on Tuesday, December 23, 1913 at Nogal, Lincoln County, New Mexico, . Joseph Oliver Cochran worked in November, 1920 as a copper miner at Hot Springs, Sierra County, New Mexico.¹ He died on November 30, 1921 at Hot Springs, New Mexico, at age 39.

     Joseph Thomas Cochran was born on February 11, 1856 at Arkansas.¹ He married Eliza Jane Wilson about 1882 at Texas .² Joseph Thomas Cochran died on May 5, 1929 at Hot Springs Landing, Sierra County, New Mexico, at age 73.¹

     Willie Vaden Cochran was born on August 25, 1895 at Lincoln County, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Joseph Thomas Cochran and Eliza Jane Wilson. Willie Vaden Cochran married, at age 17, Charles Marcellus Stenson, age 27 on Tuesday, December 24, 1912 .

     Emma Belle Collmer was born on November 6, 1906 at Richland Twp, Marion County, Ohio. She married Albert Friedrich Axthelm, son of Charles August Axthelm and Anna Salomea Boblenz, about May 26, 1931 at Ohio .^1,2 Emma Belle Collmer died on August 28, 1970 at Mt. Gilead, Morrow County, Ohio, at age 63.

     Roy F. Comer was born on March 17, 1893 at Jackson Twp., Huntington County, Indiana.¹ He married, at age 18, Laura Ethel Weisenberger, age 17, daughter of Henry Weisenberger and Rachel Emma White, on Wednesday, December 6, 1911 at Peru, Miami County, Indiana, .¹ Roy F. Comer and Laura Ethel Weisenberger were divorced in 1914 at Indiana.¹

     Ora Cliff Connor was born on May 12, 1881 at Miami County, Indiana.¹ He married, at age 25, Josephine Hartleroad, age 17, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hartleroad and Anna Frick, on Wednesday, December 19, 1906 at Miami County, Indiana, . Ora Cliff Connor died on January 2, 1960 at Santa Fe, Miami County, Indiana, at age 78.¹

     Ethan Elmer Converse was born on June 8, 1908 at Oregon.¹ He married Alma Pearl Daubenspeck, daughter of Roy Daubenspeck and Rachel Etta Morris, in 1927 .¹ Ethan Elmer Converse died on October 31, 1987 at Salem, Oregon, at age 79.

     Ronald Paul Converse was born on August 14, 1934 at Salem, Oregon.¹ He was the son of Ethan Elmer Converse and Alma Pearl Daubenspeck.¹ Ronald Paul Converse died on July 7, 1935 at West Salem, Oregon.¹ He was buried on July 8, 1935 at Salem Pioneer Cemetery, Salem, Oregon.¹

     Alfred R. Cook was born on June 13, 1913.¹ He married Harriet Ellen Smith, daughter of Hugh Wilton Smith and Martha Ellen Ginney, after 1940 .¹ Alfred R. Cook died on February 18, 1986 at age 72.¹

     Velma Welletta Cookingham was born on April 12, 1887 at LaGrange County, Indiana.¹ She married, at age 35, Oliver Lyman Robinson, age 36, son of Isaac H. Robinson and Catherine Hahn, on Saturday, March 3, 1923 at LaGrange County, Indiana, .¹

     Anna Elizabeth Cooper was born on June 12, 1820 at Maryland.¹ She married Benjamin Hahn, son of John Adam Hahn and Catherine Ackerman, about 1837 at Maryland .¹ Anna Elizabeth Cooper died on July 6, 1899 at Butler Twp, Miami County, Indiana, at age 79.^1,2 She was buried after July 6, 1899 at Peoria Cemetery - Butler Township, Miami County, Indiana.¹

     Anna Maria Elizabeth Corphans was born in 1679/80 at Germany. She married Johannas Lorentz Herchelroth, son of Hans Heinrich Herchelroth and Anna Catherine Leopoldin, about 1694/95 . Anna Maria Elizabeth Corphans died in 1755 at Penn Township, Cocalico, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

     Maria Catherine Corphans was born on November 11, 1708. She married Johannas Herchelroth, son of Johannas Lorentz Herchelroth and Anna Maria Elizabeth Corphans, in 1734/35 . Maria Catherine Corphans died on January 10, 1776 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, at age 67.

     Melchior Couchman was born in 1739.¹ He married Katherine Smelser, daughter of Peter Smelser and Barbara Garnhart, on Wednesday, March 2, 1791 at Bourbon County, Kentucky, .¹ Melchior Couchman died in 1796 at Bourbon County, Kentucky.¹

He married, at age 25, Julia Pearl Endsley, age 17, daughter of William Endsley and Sarah Emeline Daubenspeck, on Monday, October 3, 1904 at Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana, .^1,2 Gilbert Harvey Cox died on March 19, 1942 at Medaryville, Pulaski County, Indiana, at age 62. He was buried on March 21, 1942 at Sutton Cemetery, Medaryville, Pulaski County, Indiana. He and Wilbert F. Cox were twins.

     Hester Ann Cox was born on July 22, 1851 at Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of Jonathan Cox and Prudence Mickle.^1,2 Hester Ann Cox died on April 2, 1866 at Indiana at age 14.¹

     Jewel Gwendolyn Cox was born on May 19, 1915 at Medaryville, Pulaski County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Gilbert Harvey Cox and Julia Pearl Endsley. Jewel Gwendolyn Cox married Richard J. Harford about 1948 at Auburn, New York, .¹ Jewel Gwendolyn Cox died on June 13, 1962 at Auburn, New York, at age 47.

     Joanna Cox was born on February 24, 1846 at Indiana. She was the daughter of Jonathan Cox and Prudence Mickle.^1,2,3 Joanna Cox married, at age 20, Silas Long on Wednesday, November 28, 1866 .^2,4 Joanna Cox worked in 1900 as a carpet weaver.⁵ She died on May 4, 1925 at age 79.

     John Cox was born about 1867 at Pulaski County, Indiana.¹ He was the son of Joseph M. Cox and Katherine Phillips.^2,1 John Cox and William Cox were twins.

     John E. Cox was born on September 25, 1831 at Warren County, Indiana.¹ He was the son of Jonathan Cox and Prudence Mickle.¹ John E. Cox married, at age 21, Doratha Jane Phillips, age 22 on Thursday, April 7, 1853 .¹ John E. Cox began military service on August 15, 1862 as a Private in Company "C", 29th Indiana Infantry Regiment.² He was killed in action at the Battle of Stones River, Tennessee. on January 1, 1863 at age 31.¹ He was buried after January 1, 1863 at Medaryville, Pulaski County, Indiana; Sutton Cemetery.³ Notes:

A fierce battle took place at Stones River between December 31, 1862 and January 2, 1863. General Bragg's Confederates withdrew after the battle, allowing General Rosecrans and the Union army to control middle Tennessee. Although the battle was tactically indecisive, it provided a much-needed boost to the North after the defeat at Fredericksburg. Lincoln later wrote to General Rosecrans, "I can never forget [...] you gave us a hard-earned victory, which had there been a defeat instead, the nation could scarcely have lived over."

The 600-acre National Battlefield includes Stones River National Cemetery, established in 1865, with more than 6,000 Union graves; and the Hazen Brigade Monument, believed to be the oldest, intact Civil War monument still standing in its original location. Portions of Fortress Rosecrans, a large earthen fort constructed after the battle, still stand and are preserved and interpreted by the National Park Service. Much of the nearly 4,000-acre battlefield is in private hands.⁴
