     John Hartleroad was born in July, 1861 at Peru, Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of Jacob Hartleroad and Hester Ann Ginder.

John R. Hartleroad, 78, Logansport, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Howard
Regional Hospital, Kokomo.
He was born March 5, 1927 in Miami County to Fred and Mary Elizabeth Edwards Hartleroad. He
married Ellen Morris Hartleroad May 25, 1996, and she survives.
Hartleroad was a retired insurance agent, and a member of Logansport Church of the Brethren.
Survivors besides his wife include three sons, Steve Hartleroad, Columbia City, John Phillip Hartleroad,
Bloomington, and John Richard Hartleroad and wife Judy, Galesburg, Ill; a daughter, Patsy Batosky and
husband William, Glen Burnte, Md; a brother, Robert Hartleroad, Peru; a sister, Opal Mills and husband
Ray, Frankfort; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Hartleroad.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Logansport Church of the Brethren, 2405 Shadowlawn Drive,
Logansport, with Pastor Aaron Gross officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe Cemetery, Miami County.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, and from 9 a.m. until time
of service at the church Tuesday.

     Josephine Hartleroad was born on October 25, 1889 at Miami County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hartleroad and Anna Frick. Josephine Hartleroad married, at age 17, Ora Cliff Connor, age 25 on Wednesday, December 19, 1906 at Miami County, Indiana, . Josephine Hartleroad died on May 25, 1959 at age 69.

     Kenneth Hartleroad was born on July 5, 1907 at Hammond, Lake County, Indiana. He was the son of Andrew J. Hartleroad and Bertha Crim. Kenneth Hartleroad married Mary Ellen McCollum about 1928 at Indiana . Kenneth Hartleroad worked in 1930 at an oil refinery at Hammond, Lake County, Indiana. He died in November, 1973 at age 66.

Kenneth Hartlerode Husband of Mary Ellen McCollum After his divorced wife's death Kenneth deserted his son, Phillip Hartlerode, signing him over to the boy's widowed grandmother, Daisy May McGlaughlin. He didn't provide any support nor even see the boy again until he was six years of age. When Phillip did receive the first visit from his father the man was drunk and had to be ordered to leave. He saw him again during WWII when Kenneth served as a combat instructor in the Marine Corps. At that time Kenneth visited his son three times and promised to return in a week's time bringing with him the gift of a bicycle. Almost thirty years would pass before Phillip ever saw his father again. When Phil was in his mid-thirties he found and visited with his father for perhaps 30 minutes. A few weeks after that Kenneth Hartlerode passed away due to a tumor on his brain. He was approximately 63 yrs. old at his death.¹

Kenneth Edwards Hartleroad, 90, Peru, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004 at 6:15 a.m. at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Peru.
Hartleroad, who owned the K. E. Hartleroad Company (Home Furnishing Store), lived on his farm near Denver for 58 years.
He was born Feb. 11, 1914 in Miami County to Fred and Mary (Edwards) Hartleroad.
Hartleroad married Velma I. Ellis on Sept. 26, 1934.
He was a member of the Peru Church of the Brethren, and a long time member of the Peru Lions Club. At one time he traveled to Japan to attend the Lions Club International convention, and he also enjoyed oil painting and gardening.
Hartleroad is survived by son, Larry Hartleroad, Peru; daughter, Sandra Conklin and husband Ronald, Peru; four grandchildren, Tiffany Pope, Laura Hartleroad, Daniel Hartleroad, and Gean-Paul Hartleroad; two brothers, Robert Hartleroad, Peru, and John Hartleroad, Logansport, and one sister, Opal Mills, Frankfort; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Peru Church of the Brethren Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Marvin Schwartz officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Peru Church of the Brethren.

Lawrence Hartleroad married, at age 20, Susannah Maud Woonshower on Tuesday, January 29, 1822 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, . Lawrence Hartleroad died on January 18, 1876 at Pulaski County, Indiana, at age 74. He was buried at Pulaski County, Indiana.

Lawrence may have had a total of 5 spouses.

     Loade Hartleroad was born on May 4, 1891 at Peru, Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of Senis Hartleroad and Anna E. Weisenberger. Loade Hartleroad worked in 1910 as a laborer at odd jobs.¹ He worked in 1917 as a machinist at J.C. Rhodes Garage at Peru, Miami County, Indiana.

     Lydia Hartleroad was born on June 17, 1838 at Portage County, Ohio.¹ She was the daughter of Lawrence Hartleroad and Susannah Maud Woonshower. Lydia Hartleroad married, at age 23, Jonathon Brooker, age 22 on Thursday, February 13, 1862 . Lydia Hartleroad died on October 14, 1916 at Logansport, Cass County, Indiana, at age 78.¹

     Lydie Bell Hartleroad was born in February, 1880. She was the daughter of John Hartlerode and Nancy Jane Riley.

     Mable Hartleroad was born in 1900 at Hammond, Lake County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Andrew J. Hartleroad and Bertha Crim.

     Male Hartleroad is the son of Effinger Dave Hartleroad and Brooksie Lowman.

     Male Hartleroad was born on August 4, 1901 at Howard County, Indiana. He was the son of Isaah Hartleroad and Ida White.

     Marion Raymond Hartleroad was born in 1878. He was the son of John Hartlerode and Nancy Jane Riley. Marion Raymond Hartleroad died in 1940.

     Marvin Hartleroad was born on June 20, 1900 at Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of Jesse Hartleroad and Barbara Weisenberger. Marvin Hartleroad lived in 1918 at Bunker Hill, Miami County, Indiana. He died in February, 1975 at Peru, Miami County, Indiana, at age 74.

     Mary J. Hartleroad was born in April, 1857 at Pulaski County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Jacob Hartleroad and Hester Ann Ginder. Mary J. Hartleroad died after October, 1924 at Illinois.

     Nellie Christina Hartleroad was born in September, 1897 at Miami County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Jesse Hartleroad and Barbara Weisenberger.

     Opal R. Hartleroad is the daughter of Abia Fredrick Hartleroad and Mary E. Edwards.

     Ray Hartleroad was born on June 24, 1893 at Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of Senis Hartleroad and Anna E. Weisenberger. Ray Hartleroad worked in 1910 as a painter in an automobile shop.¹ He worked in 1917 as a painter for a railway company at Peru, Miami County, Indiana.

     Rebecca Jane Hartleroad was born on May 17, 1857 at Miami County, Indiana. She was the daughter of David Hartleroad and Laura J. York.¹ Rebecca Jane Hartleroad married, at age 20, Henry Hahn, age 26, son of Henry Hahn and Matilda Troxel, on Monday, November 5, 1877 at Miami County, Indiana, . Rebecca Jane Hartleroad died on April 2, 1934 at Logansport, Cass County, Indiana, at age 76.^2,3 She was buried at Santa Fe Cemetery, Miami County, Indiana.³

Rebecca Jane Hartlerode died at the house of Ora and Edna (Hahn) Waisner in Logansport.

     Richard Hartleroad was born on May 15, 1902 at Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of Jesse Hartleroad and Barbara Weisenberger. Richard Hartleroad married Thelma Daniels in 1927 at Miami County, Indiana, .¹ Richard Hartleroad died in December, 1972 at Peru, Miami County, Indiana, at age 70.²

     Rosie Ethel Hartleroad was born on August 12, 1894 at Miami County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hartleroad and Anna Frick. Rosie Ethel Hartleroad died on September 15, 1934 at age 40.

     Ruth Delorus Hartleroad was born on March 19, 1902 at Miami County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hartleroad and Anna Frick. Ruth Delorus Hartleroad died on January 3, 1951 at age 48.

     Salome Hartleroad was born on October 12, 1815 at Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Lawrence Herchelroth and Elizabeth B. Kline.

     Samuel Hartleroad was born on January 21, 1859 at Pulaski County, Indiana. He was the son of Jacob Hartleroad and Hester Ann Ginder.

     Senis Hartleroad was born on December 8, 1862 at Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of David Hartleroad and Laura J. York. Senis Hartleroad married, at age 23, Anna E. Weisenberger, age 20, daughter of George Weisenberger and Elizabeth Hahn, on Monday, November 22, 1886 at Miami County, Indiana, .¹ Senis Hartleroad worked in 1910 as a Street-Car inspector.² He died on February 4, 1952 at age 89.³

     Sophia Hartleroad was born on May 21, 1837 at Portage County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Lawrence Hartleroad and Susannah Maud Woonshower. Sophia Hartleroad died on June 8, 1855 at age 18.
