She was born on November 5, 1883 at Washington Township, Miami County, Indiana.¹ She was the daughter of William Endsley and Sarah Emeline Daubenspeck.^1,2 Thereafter her married name was Black. Sidney Eliza Endsley married, at age 18, Robert Franklin Black, age 25, son of David Harrison Black and Margaret Elvira Tarkington, on Saturday, October 11, 1902 at Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri, . Sidney Eliza Endsley died on June 14, 1905 at Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri, at age 21 probably from Malaria.

     Rosa Ida Nauer was born on December 15, 1883 at Syracuse, Onondaga, New York. She was the daughter of Joseph Dominick Nauer and Rosa Beck.

     Bertha Crim was born circa 1884 at Indiana. She married Andrew J. Hartleroad, son of John Hartleroad and Nancy Jane Riley, on Sunday, June 11, 1899 at Indiana .

     Maude Hartleroad was born in 1884. She was the daughter of Lawrence Hartleroad and Vera Jennie Frazier. Thereafter her married name was Eads. Maude Hartleroad married Harry G. Eads on Thursday, June 5, 1902 .¹ Maude Hartleroad died on December 28, 1964 at South Holland, Indiana,

Mrs. Maude Eads, 80, 7437 Van Buren St., Hammond, died Monday at the Colonial Convalescent Home, South Holland.

A resident of Hammond for 73 years, she was a member of the First Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 370.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Friends may call at the Virgil Huber Funeral Home, 7051 Kennedy Ave., Hammond, Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m.

Survivors include two sons Irving, Hammond, and Harrison, Wickliff, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Linsey and Mrs. Maurine Hodge, both of Hammond; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.


Her obituary was published in The Hammond Times on December 30, 1964.


Services for Mrs. Maude Eads will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Virgil Huber Funeral Home, 7051 Kennedy Ave., Hammond.

The Rev. Frank Buechley of the First Christian Church of Hammond will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Hammond.

Hammond Chapter 370, Order of the Eastern Star, will conduct memorial services at 7:30 p.m. today in the chapel.

Mrs. Eads, 80, of 7437 Van Buren Ave., Hammond, died Monday.

She was a member of the Hammond Chapter, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Tent 41.²

     Maggie Rohman was born in February, 1884 at Illinois. She was the daughter of Philip Rohman and Mary (?).

     Clara Zuleger was born in February, 1884 at Canada. She was the daughter of William Zuleger and Bertha (?). In 1900 Clara Zuleger worked as a packer of coffee at Toledo, Ohio.

     James R. Hahn was born on February 11, 1884. He was the son of James I. Hahn and Nancy Jane Long.

     Leona Elshire was born in March, 1884 at Indiana. She was the daughter of (?) Elshire and Emma Frick.

     Maud Robinson was born in March, 1884 at Kansas. She was the daughter of Joseph W. Robinson and Phoebe Heacox.

     Gertrude Boblenz was buried at German Reformed Cemetery, New Bloomington, Ohio. She was born on March 30, 1884 at Big Island Township, Agosta, Marion County, Ohio. She was the daughter of Albert Frederick Boblenz and Sophia Rebecca Kiest. Gertrude Boblenz died on December 12, 1886 at Big Island Township, Agosta, Marion County, Ohio, at age 2.

     Mary J. Pearson was born in April, 1884 at Indiana. Thereafter her married name was Haines. She married, at age 22, Harvey Haines, age 25, son of Andrew J. Haines and Eliza A. Endsley, on Tuesday, February 5, 1907 at Miami County, Indiana, . Mary J. Pearson died in 1962.

     Wilhelmina Hartleroad was born on April 22, 1884 at Miami County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hartleroad and Anna Frick. Wilhelmina Hartleroad died on December 17, 1884 at Miami County, Indiana.

     Minnie Bauer married ? Robbins . Minnie Bauer was born on April 29, 1884 at Decatur, Macon County, Illinois. She married, at age 25, Albert Hall, age 43, son of John Henry Hall and Samantha Jane Daubenspeck, on Thursday, November 4, 1909 at Argenta, Illinois, . Minnie Bauer died on April 26, 1955 at Decatur, Macon County, Illinois, at age 70.

     Nellie Haines was born in May, 1884. She was the daughter of Andrew J. Haines and Eliza A. Endsley.

     Charles Robinson was born in July, 1884 at Indiana.¹ He was the son of Isaac H. Robinson and Catherine Hahn. Charles Robinson married, at age 22, Margaret Smith on Monday, April 1, 1907 at Jay County, Indiana, .²

     Blanche Kellerman was born in September, 1884 at Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of Joseph N. Kellerman and Jessie L. (?).¹

     Ida Goralski was born in October, 1884 at Ohio. She was the daughter of Gottfried Goralski and Augusta (?).

      John Dee Wilson was also known as "Dee". He was born on October 1, 1884 at Indiana. He was the son of John W. Wilson and Mary F. King. John Dee Wilson married, at age 17, Cora B. Hahn, age 19, daughter of Henry Hahn and Rebecca Jane Hartlerode, on Saturday, July 19, 1902 at Miami County, Indiana, . John Dee Wilson and Cora B. Hahn were divorced circa 1904 at Miami County, Indiana. John Dee Wilson died in 1934 at Miami County, Indiana.

     Albert Friedrich Axthelm was born on October 3, 1884 at Richland Township, Marion County, Ohio.^1,2 He was the son of Charles A. Axthelm and Anna Salomea Boblenz. Albert Friedrich Axthelm was baptized on November 16, 1884 at Richland Township, Cardington, Marion County, Ohio. He died on October 1, 1943 at Marion County, Ohio, at age 58.³

     Frederick Jacob Vogler was born on November 5, 1884 at Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. He was the son of Henry Joseph Vogler and Magdalena Wilhelmine Boblenz.¹ Frederick Jacob Vogler was confirmed on May 26, 1899 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio.² He worked in 1900 as as an Elevator Boy at Toledo, Ohio.³ He lived in 1900 at 1119 W. Washington Street, Toledo, Ohio; as a boarder with the Benhoff family. In 1902 Frederick Jacob Vogler worked as a clerk at the International Motor Car Company at Toledo, Ohio.⁴ Between 1903 and 1919 Frederick Jacob Vogler worked as the owner of West End Pattern Works - a pattermaking company at Lucas County, Ohio.⁵ He married, at age 26, Marie Emma LeBuda, age 21, daughter of Frederick LeBuda and Caroline Grosky, on Thursday, June 1, 1911 at Springfield, Clark County, Ohio, . After 1920 Frederick Jacob Vogler worked as an Industrial Arts Teacher at Toledo, Ohio.⁶ He died on May 16, 1958 at San Diego, California, at age 73.⁶ He was buried at Cypress View Mausoleum, San Diego, California.

      Ora Cleveland Waisner was also known as "Coon". He was born on November 5, 1884 at Waupecong, Indiana.¹ He was the son of David D. Waisner and Philena Casey. Ora Cleveland Waisner married, at age 21, Edna H. Hahn, age 19, daughter of Henry Hahn and Rebecca Jane Hartlerode, on Saturday, July 21, 1906 at Miami County, Indiana, . After 1910 Ora Cleveland Waisner worked as a Railroad Conductor on the PA RR. He retired on December 30, 1955 after 45 years with the Pennsylvania railroad.² He died on August 4, 1965 at Logansport, Cass County, Indiana, at age 80. He was buried on August 6, 1965 at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport, Cass County, Indiana.¹

     Goldie May York was born in December, 1884. She was the daughter of Aaron B. York and Sarah C. Bennett.

     Edna Madge Detamore was born circa 1885. She married General Wade Endsley, age 23, son of Arthur Endsley and Matilda Jane Sullivan, on Saturday, July 6, 1901 at Miami County, Indiana, .

     Harry G. Eads was born circa 1885 at Indiana. He married Maude Hartleroad, daughter of Lawrence Hartleroad and Vera Jennie Frazier, on Thursday, June 5, 1902 .¹ In 1930 Harry G. Eads worked as a stock man in a department store at Hammond, Lake County, Indiana.

     Albert Moules was born on January 13, 1885 at England. He emigrated in 1906 from England. He was naturalized in 1908. He married Amanda Pearl Firsdon, daughter of John David Firsdon, circa 1911 at Toledo, Ohio, . In 1920 Albert Moules worked as an accountant at Willys Overland Auto at Toledo, Ohio.

     Maud B. Ramer was born in March, 1885. She was the daughter of Taylor Ramer and Hanna A. Hartlerode.

     Charles Marcellus Stenson was born on May 25, 1885 at Texas. He married, at age 27, Willie Vaden Cochran, age 17 on Tuesday, December 24, 1912 . In 1918 Charles Marcellus Stenson worked as a blacksmith at Hot Springs, Sierra County, New Mexico. In 1930 Charles Marcellus Stenson worked as a truck driver - freight at New Mexico.

     Gro. Haines was born on June 17, 1885. He was the son of Andrew J. Haines and Eliza A. Endsley.

     Vern Hartleroad was born on June 20, 1885 at Miami County, Indiana. He was the son of Senis Hartleroad and Anna E. Weisenberger. Vern Hartleroad married, at age 32, Gladys Carrie Zimmerman on Saturday, September 8, 1917 at Miami County, Indiana, .¹ Vern Hartleroad married, at age 33, Louie M. Johnson on Monday, August 26, 1918 at Miami County, Indiana, .¹ Vern Hartleroad died on July 19, 1955 at age 70.

     Lelia B. Duck was born on July 20, 1885.^1,2 She was the daughter of Henry Duck and Susan Catharine Daubenspeck. Lelia B. Duck married, at age 24, Marshall James Hadsell, age 44, son of Byron A. Hadsell and Cornelia Streeter, on Wednesday, October 20, 1909 at Miami County, Indiana, . Lelia B. Duck died on May 16, 1968 at Marion, Grant County, Indiana, at age 82.^1,3


Lelia B. (Duck) Hadsell was the Census Enumerator for the 5th ward in Peru for the 1930 Census.
Mother Susan Catherine (Daubenspeck) Duck is living with the family (age 77 and a widow). along with her daughter Maud Duck, age 53, never married. No children for Lelia and Marshall.

Joseph and Ella Butcher are living next door.⁴
