Revolutionary War Veteran. Lorentz Herchelroth died on October 27, 1804 at Warwick, Pennsylvania, at age 67.

     Mary Magdeline Herchelroth was born on November 12, 1812 at Pennsylvania.^1,2 She was the daughter of Lawrence Herchelroth and Elizabeth B. Kline. Mary Magdeline Herchelroth married, at age 16, David Heater, age 22 on Thursday, November 27, 1828 at Portage County, Ohio, . Mary Magdeline Herchelroth died on February 28, 1895 at Winamac, Pulaski County, Indiana, at age 82.² She was buried after February 28, 1895 at Winamac Cemetery, Winamac, Indiana.²

     Amy Irene Herriff was born in December, 1872 at Portage County, Ohio.^3,1 She was the daughter of Ira Lewis Herriff and Arabelle E. Caris.¹ Amy Irene Herriff worked in 1900 as a schoolteacher at Kent, Ohio.³ She worked in 1910 as the superintendent of schools at Kent, Ohio.⁴ She worked in 1930 as a college teacher at Kent, Ohio.⁵ She died on February 1, 1953 at Kent, Portage County, Ohio, at age 80.⁶ She was buried after February 1, 1953 at Standing Rock Cemetery, Kent, Ohio.⁶

Amy Herriff is included in the DAR lineage books as being descended from a Valentine Coosard who was a Revolutionary War soldier for the state of New Jersey. She claims her descendency thus: Ira Herriff--> Lydia Hartlerode--> Elizabeth Coosard (a wife of Lorentz Herchelroth)--> Valentine Coosard. This is the only reference I've seen yet of the marriage of Lorentz Herchelroth to Elizabeth Coosard. There is a possiblility that she was a second wife, or that Elizabeth Kline's name has been mistaken in many sources and genealogies. As of now (2016) I'm leaving the Coosard line out until I can find further proof. -ph.²

     Dene H. Herriff was born on November 13, 1890 at Portage County, Ohio.^3,1 She was the daughter of Ira Lewis Herriff and Arabelle E. Caris.¹ Dene H. Herriff worked in 1910 as a schoolteacher at Kent, Ohio.⁴ She married Glenn Allen Barber about 1923 at Ohio . Dene H. Herriff died in 1955 at Portage County, Ohio.²
